Richard, aka “Slimmer, Slim, Slim”
Born on the beautiful island of Trinidad, he migrated to Toronto, Canada, in 1975. As a young child, in primary school, he always loved writing calypsos as a hobby. It wasn’t until he came to Edmonton, to work and live he started to write calypso lyrics one more time. He won Edmonton’s first calypso monarch competition.
With a real passion for calypso, he recorded his first song, My Music, followed by Play She Pan ,Tonight In The Party, Missing and Family Love.” He wrote and co-wrote songs with the late great Singing Francine. Songs that includes, Jouvert Jamming, Unity, and Carnival People,
He is very passionate about Calypso music and a true representative of the culture in Western Canada.

Just Trying
From Sobo Village, Palo Seco, Trinidad, Just Trying migrated to Toronto, Canada in 1974.
Being from Trinidad and Tobago, he always had that energy to write and perform calypso music It wasn’t until he came to Edmonton, Alberta, that the energy he had for composing and singing calypso exploded.
He took part in many calypso competitions in Edmonton and Calgary, where he won many of them— coming first at times.
He is a prolific calypsonian; whereby, he produces may compositions. He, also, plays African drums and belongs to the group of African drummers by the name of Wajjo.

Oasis
Septimus and Patricia of Oasis have been performing in and around Edmonton for over 25 years, bringing the sweet sounds of the Caribbean to every event and satisfying listeners with their renditions of Calypso and Reggae music, nectar of the islands. Our deep desire for music also includes Jazz, Gospel and R&B. We do our best to not disappoint.
